How To Connect Bose Soundbar to Tv With HDMI: Step by Step Guide

Commence by Preparing Your Bose Soundbar

Before diving into the HDMI connection, it’s crucial to ensure that your Bose Soundbar is properly set up and ready for the seamless integration with your TV.

Connect the Soundbar to Power

Plug the Power Cord: Start by plugging one end of the power cord into the POWER connector on the back of the Bose Soundbar.

Power Outlet Connection: Connect the other end of the power cord to a live AC (mains) power outlet.

Download the SoundTouch App

To streamline the setup process, download the SoundTouch app on your mobile device or computer. This app will guide you through the necessary steps to connect your Bose Soundbar to your TV.

Determine Setup Device

Is setup being done on a mobile device or computer? The setup process slightly differs based on the device used.

For Mobile Devices

Before you begin on a mobile device, ensure the following:

  • Turn on Bluetooth in the device settings.
  • Allow Location Service or Local Access Network permissions if prompted, as these are essential for the app to detect and control your product.

Setting Up Your System

For Computers

Before you begin on a computer, ensure the following:

  • Install the Bose Music app icon on your Apple or Android mobile device.
  • Turn on Bluetooth on your mobile device.
  • If using a wired Internet connection, connect an Ethernet cable from the jack on the soundbar to a router or access point.

Setting Up Your System

  • Run ADAPTiQ: Maximize the system sound by running ADAPTiQ. This calibration software tests the acoustics of the listening area, analyzes speaker placement, and tailors the sound accordingly.
  • Install Bose Music App: Ensure the Bose Music app is installed on your mobile device.
  • Turn on Bluetooth: Enable Bluetooth on your mobile device.
  • Connect to Power: If the soundbar is not connected to power, connect a power cord to a power outlet. The light bar will blink as it powers up.
  • Open Bose Music App: On your mobile device, open the Bose Music app. Sign in or create an account.
  • Select Smart Speakers, Soundbars & Amps: The app will search for products compatible with the Bose Music app.
  • Add Soundbar: If the product image shown is not your soundbar, swipe left to see other products and tap “Add.” If the Set Up New Product screen does not appear, tap the My Bose icon in the upper-left corner, then tap the “+” to add a product.
  • Connect to Wi-Fi: Select your wireless network, enter the network password, and tap “Connect.” For hidden networks, manually enter Wi-Fi details.
  • Name Your Soundbar: Select a name or enter a custom one, then tap “Save.”
  • Sharing Preferences: Choose whether to let other Bose Music accounts use this product on your network.
  • Set Up Bass Module: Tap “Next” to set up the bass module or tap “Do It Later.”
  • Run ADAPTiQ: On the ADAPTiQ screen, tap “Get Started” to optimize sound quality. Calibration typically takes a few minutes.
  • Select Voice Assistant: Choose the voice assistant you want to use or tap “Skip” to do this later.
  • Finish Setup: Tap “Get Started” to start using your system.
  • Install Remote Batteries: Install batteries in your remote. If the remote doesn’t control your soundbar, see pairing instructions.
  • Program Remote for Other Devices: If you want to control other devices, like a cable box or Blu-ray player, see instructions for programming your remote.

Connecting Your Bose Soundbar to TV with HDMI:

With your Bose Soundbar set up, it’s time to connect it to your TV using an HDMI cable. Follow these steps for a seamless connection:

  • Locate HDMI ARC Connector on TV: On the back of your TV, find the HDMI ARC connector. If your TV doesn’t have an HDMI connector with an ARC label, you can use an optical cable instead.
  • Note that an HDMI input must have ARC (Audio Return Channel) functionality for the TV to send audio to the soundbar.
  • Insert HDMI Cable into TV: Plug one end of the HDMI cable into the TV’s HDMI ARC connector.
  • Insert HDMI Cable into Soundbar: Plug the other end of the cable into the HDMI (ARC) connector on the Bose Soundbar.
  • Check for Power: Ensure that the soundbar is connected to power. If not, follow the power connection steps mentioned earlier.
  • Complete Soundbar Setup: If you haven’t finished setting up your Bose Soundbar using the SoundTouch or Bose Music app, ensure that the setup is complete before proceeding.
